Scheduling a Session

Where do you take pictures?

Every photo session is on location, taking advantage of natural light.  This means we can meet at a spot that is special to YOU! We can shoot at your house, in your backyard, in an abandoned building, on a haystack, by a train track, in the middle of nowhere or maybe just in the streets of Clovis.  The possibilities are endless.IMG_6564EBW copyW

How long are sessions?

A session can last anywhere from 1-3 hours.  The last thing I want is for you to feel rushed.

When is the session fee due?

The total fee is due at the time of booking to lock in your date and time and is non-refundable.

What does a session fee include?

The non-refundable session fee secures your session date and covers the photographer’s time and talent to create your custom portraits. This also includes the time spent editing your images and doing minor retouching, as well as an online gallery of approximately 25 images for your review. Prints and other items are sold separately.

When should I schedule my maternity session?

The ideal time for a maternity session is the last six weeks of your pregnancy.  This is when the baby ‘bump’ is at its best. However, be careful not to schedule your photo session too close to your due date unless you want to chance your little one making an early appearance 😉

How do I schedule a newborn session when I don’t know when the baby will be born?

Just let me know your due date and I will schedule a tentative date for you. I will set aside time before and after your due date so that you are assured a photo session. Please note, newborn sessions should be completed within the first 10 days. A newborn tends to be more sleepy and more easily put into those fun baby poses.

Oops, something came up. Can I reschedule or cancel my session?

Your session fee is non-refundable. However, your session can be rescheduled with 48 hours notice. If you are running late for your appointment, please give me a call or email. No-shows will forfeit their session fee.

Preparing for a Session

What should I wear?

Be natural.  Be simple. By simple I mean it’s best to focus on 1 garment or accessory to “pop” in your image.  Please understand that “khakis and white shirts” do not make the perfect portrait.  In fact, white often acts to reflect light in a portrait and should be worn sparingly. It’s great to
coordinate but not necessarily match.  Please try to avoid large logos, or very busy clothing that
distracts from the focus, you. I love funky boots, colorful hats, scarves and hair accessories.

Having said all that, wear what you want!  Wear what showcases your personality. If your daughter insists on wearing her princess crown or if your son can’t live without his cape or cowboy hat, then by all means…bring them! When you look back at your photos 10 years from now I don’t want you to recall the desperate hunt for the perfect seersucker pants.  I want you to remember that time in your life.  The uncomplicated, natural state of you and your loved ones.

I accept payments by cash, personal check (made payable to “Kasey Shaw’) and credit and debit cards via PayPal. Please note, you do NOT need a PayPal account to use this option. Returned checks are subject to a an insufficient funds fee and must be replaced with another form of payment.

How can I get a gift certificate and for how much?

You may purchase a gift certificate online. Go HERE to get started. You may buy a gift certificate for any denomination, however I recommend at least $200 to cover the session fee and allow $75 for print credit. I am happy to make a personalized gift certificate. Just send me an inquiry and include the recipient’s name, type of session, amount, address for delivery and any additional details you would like to add.

Have a question I didn’t answer? Send me a message and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
